Altoona Curve News Release
COMMEMORATIVE STEPHEN STRASBURG POSTER GIVEAWAY - JUNE 8
The Altoona Curve have announced that they will be giving away a commemorative poster surrounding the professional debut of the first overall pick in the 2009 draft, Stephen Strasburg, on Tuesday, June 8 when they host the Harrisburg Senators (AA - Washington Nationals). The giveaway will go to the first 1,000 fans through the gates courtesy of theprinters.com.
Strasburg, widely considered one of the greatest prospects in the history of baseball, pitched his first professional regular season game against the Curve on Sunday, April 11 at Blair County Ballpark. The contest was nationally televised and thought of as one of the most exciting debuts in the history of the game.
The poster giveaway will be distributed on the day that Strasburg is scheduled to make his Major League debut for the Washington Nationals against the Pittsburgh Pirates while the two farm clubs play each other at Blair County Ballpark.
The commemorative poster will consist of a collage of four different pictures from that historic day. Three separate photos at the top of the 12" x 18" poster will show Strasburg throwing against the Curve, while the bottom displays a beautiful, panoramic shot of many of the 7,887 fans who were in attendance that afternoon.
"Having the entire nation's attention and all eyes on Blair County Ballpark on April 11 was truly a special day in our team and area's history," said General Manager Rob Egan. "This giveaway will be a terrific collectible for all the fans that take pride in what that day meant for the Curve and our region. It'll be a great piece of memorabilia."
The poster was produced by theprinters.com and KB Offset Printing, Inc. located at 3500 East College Avenue in State College.
Tickets for Tuesday's game, which is also a Two-for-Tuesday, are still available. On Tuesday, fans can get two tickets for the price of one, two small popcorns for the price of one and two hot dogs for the price of one. Great seats can be obtained by calling 877-99-CURVE, going online at AltoonaCurve.com, or ordering in person at the Blair County Ballpark ticket windows.
PINT GLASS GIVEAWAYS
On Thursday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. when the Altoona Curve takes on the Harrisburg Senators in the final game of the three-game series, fans 21 and over will receive a pint-glass exit giveaway courtesy of Furrer Beverage. The giveaway will be distributed to those fans of age as they leave Blair County Ballpark after the conclusion of the game.
The giveaway will be in conjunction with the team's popular Thirsty Thursday nights at Blair County Ballpark presented by Rocky 104.9. Fans 21 and older can enjoy 16 ounce Bud Light drafts for just $2.00 while 22 ounce fountain sodas will be just $1.50 all night long.
Fans can also save $2 off grandstand tickets by presenting their Weis Markets Preferred Shoppers Club card at the ticket windows on a "Weis Buy Thursday".
