Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs dropped a 2-1 contest to the Manitoba Moose on Sunday afternoon in front of 3,022 fans at Copps Coliseum. The game began just 16 hours after Saturday's overtime win over Syracuse and was the first AHL game to be televised this season on Rogers Sportsnet.
It was also the seventh time out of nine games this season that a game was decided by one goal.
Moose goaltender Wade Flaherty earned the win for the visiting team with 32 saves on 33 shots.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at the 13:46 mark of the second period on a goal by Marc-Andre Thinel. Moose goalie Wade Flaherty had trouble handling a Michael Lambert slap shot and allowed Thinel to stuff in the rebound for his second of the season.
Manitoba would even the score just twenty seconds into the third period on an unassisted marker by Ryan Kesler. Kesler spun around and let go a slap shot that beat a screened Dan Ellis high on the glove side.
Later in the period Manitoba would go ahead on a goal bywinger Lee Goren. Goren streaked down the right wing and fired a wrist shot that beat goalie Dan Ellis down low. The game-winning goal was Goren's sixth of the season and came at the 14:56 mark of the third period.
Hamilton applied pressure in the final few minutes with scoring chances by Tomas Plekanec and Jason Ward but Wade Flaherty was solid in net for the Moose and picked up his fourth win of the season.
The Bulldogs' next action will take place on Tuesday, November 2nd when they will travel to Cleveland to take on the Barons. Game time will be 7:00pm and fans can listen to all the action live at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com or AM 820-CHAM.
