Tony Voce Named Phantoms Player of the Month for October

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League announced today that rookie left wing Tony Voce has been named the Toyota Phantoms Player of the Month for October. Voce, who leads the team with four goals and is tied for the lead in scoring with six points, will receive his award in a pregame presentation later this week.
"It is pleasing to see such production from Tony," said Phantoms head coach John Stevens. "He certainly made noise with his numbers and proved he could play away from the puck as well. He showed his ability to play in all situations."
Voce, who is the first Philadelphia native to play in the Flyers organization, went scoreless in his first two games with the team before posting a goal and an assist in front of over 200 friends and family members in the Phantoms' home opening 5-3 victory against the Hamilton Bulldogs on Oct. 22 at the Wachovia Center.
The next night Voce had his first multiple-goal game as a professional when he scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, in a 3-2 Philadelphia victory in Hershey. He had his third straight two-point game on Oct. 27 against Bridgeport when he tallied a goal and an assist in a 5-0 win at the Wachovia Center.
Voce spent his last four seasons with Boston College, where he was named the team's MVP in his junior and senior years. He signed with the Flyers as a free agent on July 13, 2004. He is originally from the Northeast section of Philadelphia.
The Toyota Phantoms Player of the Month award is in its second season, as a Phantoms player will be honored each month through the end of the regular season for his contributions on the ice.
