Moose bring back Winnipeg Hockey Legends for final night at Winnipeg Arena

The Manitoba Moose are pleased to announce today they are bringing back close to 40 of Winnipeg's Great Hockey Legends as part of the "Thanks for the Memories" Tribute Week to honor the closing of the Winnipeg Arena after 49 years as home to hockey in Winnipeg.

Names such as Anders Hedberg, Ulf Nilsson, Teemu Selanne, Thomas Steen, and many, many others (see pg. 2) will be on hand Saturday, November 6th, 2004 when the Manitoba Moose take on the Utah Grizzlies at the Arena.

The following is the scheduled plan of hockey-related events to take place during the "Thanks for the Memories" Tribute Week:


Thursday, November 4th, 2004: Manitoba Moose vs. Utah Grizzlies
7:30 p.m. Winnipeg Arena

The Moose will wear throwback uniforms to days of the 1950's. The jersey is a combination of the look worn by both the Winnipeg Braves and Winnipeg Maroons.

Jerseys be available for auction at the final game at the Winnipeg Arena on November 6th.

The Moose will use turn-back-the-clock prices on various concession items such as popcorn and hotdogs for $1.00.

The Moose will provide organ music on this night exclusively.

Saturday, November 6th, 2004: Manitoba Moose vs. Utah Grizzlies
7:30 p.m. Winnipeg Arena
The Moose will hold a special pre-game ceremony honoring the Winnipeg Arena by introducing all of the invited guests onto the Winnipeg Arena ice surface.

The pre-game ceremony will also include a 15-minute video as well as the lowering of the hockey banners from the rafters in the Winnipeg Arena.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. The pre-game ceremony begins at 6:00 p.m.

There will be a ceremonial puck-drop just prior to start of the game.

The Moose will have historic concourse displays taking fans back to the days of yester-year in the Arena.

The Moose will give-away two Winnipeg Arena seats per period to a lucky fan at the game.

There will also be a final, short post-game ceremony to say goodbye to the Winnipeg Arena for final time.

Autographs sessions are planned.

The first 10,000 fans will receive a free commemorative poster.
