Adirondack Phantoms News Release

The Phantoms captured both of their games last week to extend their current win streak to four games. On Wednesday, Antero Niittymaki stopped all 22 shots he faced and Philadelphia scored four times in the second period in a 5-0 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Tony Voce and Dennis Seidenberg led the way offensively with two points apiece as Philadelphia finished with a season-high three power-play goals and registered its largest margin of victory since March 8 of last season. On Friday, the Phantoms completed their second straight season sweep of the Hamilton Bulldogs with a 4-1 victory. Niittymaki turned aside 29-of-30 shots to notch his third win in a row, while Randy Jones and Peter White each registered two points.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks make their only two visits of the season this Wednesday and Sunday. The teams went 1-1-2 against each other last year, but the Mighty Ducks had the upper hand in Philadelphia, posting a 5-3 win on Nov. 12 and then a 1-1 tie two days later. Philadelphia holds a commanding 32-9-5 record in the all-time series, including a 17-3-3 mark when playing at home. The Phantoms are scheduled to play in Cincinnati on Friday, Feb. 18 and Wednesday, Feb. 23.

Philadelphia will seek its 14th consecutive win over the Hershey Bears when the teams collide on Friday. The Phantoms won all 12 match-ups with the Bears in 2003-04 and then posted a 3-2 overtime victory in Hershey on Oct. 23 thanks to Tony Voce's goal 1:09 into the extra session. Philadelphia now owns a 50-32-8-5 lead in the all-time series, including a 28-14-4-1 mark when playing at home. The Phantoms have won the last seven match-ups with the Bears at home. The teams will next meet on Friday, Nov. 26 in Philadelphia and Saturday, Nov. 27 in Hershey.

SHARP ON EIGHT-GAME POINT STREAK

Center Patrick Sharp remains the only Phantom to record a point in every game this season. The third-year pro has three goals and three assists to tie for the team lead in points (6) through six games. Sharp is actually riding an eight-game point streak (7G, 3A) dating back to last season.

FOUR WINS IN A ROW

Following a pair of season-opening losses, Philadelphia has regrouped to win its last four games. The Phantoms are averaging 4.25 goals per game during the win streak and allowing just 1.5. It is the team's longest win streak since a six-game streak from March 26-April 3, 2004.

PHANTOMS HAVE TOP POWER PLAY UNIT

The Phantoms converted on 5-of-13 power plays last week to take over the league lead for top power-play percentage. Philadelphia is now 9-for-33 with a man advantage for a 27.3 percent success rate. The Phantoms are also first in the AHL in home power-play percentage at 41.7 (5-for-12).

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS

George W. Bush will be dropping the ceremonial opening puck prior to Wednesday's game against Cincinnati. Bush is from Boothwyn, Pa. and works as a client training manager for Star Systems Inc. On Friday, the Phantoms will be raising their East Division Championship banner into the rafters of the Wachovia Spectrum prior to their game against Hershey. Following the game, the Phantoms will hold their first-ever fireworks show outside the Spectrum.
