Erie SeaWolves News Release
For the second straight day, the Reading Fightin Phils walked off on the SeaWolves as Erie dropped its second straight game, 9-8.
Reading struck in the first inning against Erie starter Josh Turley when Cameron Perkins homered to left making it 1-0. It was the second home run of the series for Perkins.
The SeaWolves took the lead in the second on Fightins starter Ben Lively. With one out, Austin Green doubled and Dominic Ficociello followed with a two-run home run to make it 2-1 Erie.
Reading quickly regained the lead in the last of the second. Andrew Knapp led off with a single and was doubled home by Destin Hood, tying the game. With one out, Harold Martinez singled home Hood for a 3-2 lead. Reading would add two more on a two-run Angelo Mora triple making it 5-2.
Erie regained the lead in the top of the fourth. Green singled for his second hit of the day and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Ficociello then reached on an error putting runners on the corners for Connor Harrell. Harrell doubled home Green making it 5-3. Wade Gaynor followed with a three-run home run, giving Erie a 6-5 lead.
Reading regained the lead in the fourth. They loaded the bases with three singles from Martinez, Mora and Kelly Dugan. Perkins lifted a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Martinez tying the game. Brock Stassi tripled home the baserunners making it 8-6.
Erie would once again tie the game on a pair of Dean Green solo home runs, one in the fifth and one in the seventh. Green is the second SeaWolves hitter with a multi-homer game this season.
The game remained tied into the ninth. Reliever Montreal Robertson struck out the first two hitters of the inning. Stassi followed and reached on an error. A walk to Knapp pushed the winning run into scoring position. Hood singled home the game-winning run.
Robertson (1-2) took the loss allowing an unearned run on one hit with a walk and two strikeouts.
