A second straight walk-off win for the Fightins

For the second straight game the Fightin Phils (56-48) have won on a walk-off hit. This time it was Destin Hood with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as he singled in Brock Stassi for a 9-8 win over the Erie SeaWolves (56-48).

Cameron Perkins gave the Fightin Phils a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as he hit a solo home run off SeaWolves starter Josh Turley. The home run for Perkins was his 11th of the season. Dominic Ficociello hit a two-run home run off Ben Lively in the top of the second inning that gave Erie a 2-1 lead.

Reading scored four runs off Turley in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-2 lead. Destin Hood hit a RBI double that scored Andrew Knapp and Harold Martinez hit a RBI single that scored Hood. Angelo Mora hit a two-run triple to cap off the inning that scored Martinez and Brodie Greene.

Erie bounced back in the top of the fourth inning as they scored four runs off Lively to take a 6-5 lead. Connor Harrell hit a RBI double that was followed by a three-run home run by Wade Gaynor. Perkins tied the game off Turley in the bottom of the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly that scored Martinez. Brock Stassi hit his first triple of the season that scored Mora and Kelly Dugan that gave Reading an 8-6 lead. Turley left the game after 3 2/3 innings as he allowed eight runs off 12 hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Slade Smith came into the game for Erie.

Dean Green homered off Lively in the top of the fifth inning to bring the SeaWolves within one run, 8-7. Lively left the game after five innings as he allowed seven runs (six earned) off ten hits with six strikeouts in five innings. Tom Windle entered the game in the top of the sixth inning. Green tied the game at 8-8 off Windle in the top of the seventh inning with a solo home run.

Stephen Shackleford (3-1) earned his third win as he pitched the top of the ninth inning. Montreal Robertson (1-2) earned the loss as he allowed the game winning hit.

The Fightin Phils will play a four-game series up in New Hampshire beginning on Thursday night. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 6:35 pm.
