Fresno Falcons News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons' Dan Tessier scored short-handed four minutes into the third period to help deliver a 3-1 victory over the Bakersfield Condors at Centennial Garden.

Despite out-shooting Bakersfield, 13-9, through the first 20 minutes it was the Condors that took a 1-0 lead to the second period. Likit Andersson fired a puck toward the net from the near half boards that snuck short-side past Falcons netminder Jamie Hodson for the period's only tally at 14:50.

The Falcons finally broke through against goaltender Randy Petruk late in the second. Derek Krestanovich took a loose puck off the endboards and banked it off Petruk for his eighth of the season at 18:16, sending the game to the third period tied at one.

Skating short-handed and moments after the Condors' Guy Dupuis rang a shot off the crossbar, Tessier took a pass from David Brisson and fired a slapshot past the glove of Petruk for his second short-handed tally of the season at 4:00 of the third. Simon Mangos then gave Fresno some insurance at 8:32 of the final period when he beat a Bakersfield defenseman one-on-one before poking the puck over the goal line with a diving effort for his third of the season.

With the victory, Fresno moves above .500 for the first time this year to 12-11-2, pulling into a tie with the Las Vegas Wranglers in sixth place in the West Division with 26 points.

The Falcons continue their longest road trip of the season on Tuesday, Dec. 28, when they take on the Peoria Rivermen. All of the live play-by-play action can be heard on 103.1 FM, The Mountain Cat, beginning at 4:50 p.m. Pacific time.
