Pride Make Trade with Wildcatters
December 27, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC â The Pee Dee Pride announced today that the team has traded right wing Michael Chin to the Texas Wildcatters in exchange for defenseman Tim Branham.
The 23-year-old Branham, a third-round selection of the Vancouver Canucks in 2000, is in his third professional season. In 21 games with Texas this season, he tallied one goal and six assists for seven points. He split last year with Texas and the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League, after playing his rookie season (2002-03) with the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL and the Saint John Flames of the AHL. While with the Flames that season, Branham was teammates with Pride captain Jan Vodrazka. In 137 career pro games, Branham has 35 points and 102 penalty minutes.
Chin was acquired by the Pride prior to the start of this season in a trade with the Greenville Grrrowl. In 26 games this season, Chin had four goals and seven assists for 11 points.
"We had a chance to better our hockey club by adding an experienced defenseman so we took the opportunity to do so," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "Tim is still a young man at 23, but he has over 60 games in the AHL on his resume, and he will be a welcome addition to our blue line."
The Pride are back in action tomorrow, traveling to Gwinnett for a 7:00 face-off with the Gladiators. Catch all of the action on WDAR Sunny 105.5 and www.peedeepride.com starting with the Palmetto Chiropractic Pre-Game Show at 6:40.
Pee Dee returns on Friday, hosting the Augusta Lynx with a special start time of 6:00 p.m. It's the first Season-Ticket Holder Redemption Night of the season. Pride season ticket holders can redeem unused tickets for free 200 or 400 level seats. Tickets must be redeemed through the Pride office by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Following the game, join the Pride for a New Year's Eve Party at RedBone Alley featuring live music from Everette, crab-stuffed filet mignon and a champagne toast at midnight.
Saturday, the Pride host the Columbia Inferno at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for all Pride home games are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
