Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque, NM - The Round Rock Express broke open a close game by plating seven runs over their final three at-bats and secured a 9-4 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes on Thursday night at Rio Grande Credit Union Field.

Round Rock got solo homers from Yohel Pozo and Sam Huff in the second and fourth innings, respectively, to take a 2-0 lead.

Albuquerque starting pitcher Zach Neal threw well, allowing just three hits and two runs (on the two solo homers) with a walk and three strikeouts in five frames.

The Isotopes left two runners aboard in every frame from the third through fifth, but were able to break through when D.J. Peterson delivered a two-run double in the sixth, tying it up.

Ty Blach pitched a scoreless sixth but immediately allowed three consecutive hits to start the seventh, including an RBI double by Davis Wendzel which gave the Express a 3-2 lead. After an out, Round Rock scored two more runs when shortstop Alan Trejo was unable to field a grounder with the infield in, making it 5-2.

Michael Toglia annihilated a pitch 398 feet into the left-field pavilion for a two-run homer in the seventh, cutting Albuquerque's deficit to 5-4.

Round Rock plated two runs in the eighth and ninth apiece. Nick Solak had a two-run double in the eighth, while Josh Smith and Josh Jung added an RBI single in the ninth.
