Salt Lake City, UT - The Tacoma Rainiers (55-65) pulled back in front of the Salt Lake Bees (56-64) two games to one in this road series on Wednesday, cruising to a 6-1 victory at Smith's Ballpark. The Rainiers improved to 6-3 on the road in August with the win, and held Salt Lake to one or fewer runs for a second time in three games.

Tacoma struck first, in the first. Taylor Trammell rolled a ball to the right field wall for a double on the game's opening pitch, and scored with one out on an Erick Mejia single to center. The Bees tied it in the home half of the inning, with two hits and a double play ball.

It was 2-1 Rainiers in the second when Drew Ellis teed off on his 13th homer of the season, to left-center. The 452-foot solo shot was the evening's longest hit ball by 21 feet.

The Rainiers led 3-1 in the fourth when Jarred Kelenic worked a leadoff walk, hustled to third base on a Brian O'Keefe single and scored on a Jonathan Villar fielder's choice. Kelenic made the score 6-1 in the fifth when he blasted his 14th Triple-A homer of the season, 431 feet to center. Trammell and Kyle Lewis were on base for the three-run shot (both singled).

Tacoma lefty Austin Warner spun five innings without walking a batter, and allowed only three hits (ER). The southpaw struck out five in earning the win. Rainiers relievers Kyle Bird, Taylor Williams, Matt Koch and Riley O'Brien combined for four scoreless innings (one apiece) to close it, surrendering just one hit.

Game four of this weeklong series will be on Friday, another 5:35 PT/6:35 MT first pitch at Smith's Ballpark. RHP Konner Wade will start for Tacoma, against Salt Lake RHP Cesar Valdez.

Rainiers broadcaster Mike Curto will have full coverage on TacomaRainiers.com. All 2022 Rainiers games, home and away, can also be heard for free on the MiLB First Pitch app. HD video broadcasts of every game can be viewed with a MiLB.TV subscription.
