Salt Lake Offense Stifled in Loss to Tacoma

The Salt Lake Bees (56-64) managed just four hits in a 6-1 Thursday night loss to the Tacoma Rainiers (55-65). The Rainiers took a 2-1 lead in the series with the win.

Jake Palomaki and Matt Duffy both went 1-for-2 with a walk and Duffy scored the lone run for the Bees. Torii Hunter Jr. hit his first career Triple-A triple and Kean Wong went 1-for-4.

The Rainiers scored in the first inning once again, marking the ninth-straight game at Smith's Ballpark in which the visiting team scored the first run of the game. Salt Lake tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the opening inning on a Michael Stefanic RBI groundout.

Tacoma scored five unanswered runs over the next four innings, highlighted by a three-RBI home run from Jarred Kelenic in the fifth inning. Salt Lake had four baserunners the rest of the way, but could not bring any runs across.

Game four of the series will be played tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m.
