Salt Lake Bees News Release

Cesar Valdez picked up his Triple-A leading 10th quality start of the season as the Salt Lake Bees (57-64) bounced back with a 4-3 win over the Tacoma Rainiers (55-66).

Valdez earned his eighth win of the year, going six scoreless innings while giving up just three hits and striking out four batters. He is now tied for second in the PCL with his eight wins. Michael Stefanic went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, Kean Wong went 2-for-4, and Steven Duggar hit his first home run in a Salt Lake uniform.

Kyle Barraclough continued his hot streak with a scoreless seventh inning, giving him eight scoreless appearances with 14 strikeouts in August.

For the first time in their last 10 home games, the Bee struck first, but it took until the fourth inning for them to get on the board. Duggar opened the scoring with his solo shot and Jake Palomaki drove in Chad Wallach later in the inning to make it 2-0.

Tacoma scored for the first time in the top of the eighth inning, but Salt Lake answered back in the bottom of the inning with Stefanic's two-RBI double. They would go into the ninth with a 4-1 lead.

Marcus Wilson hit a two-RBI home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth bringing the Rainiers within one run, but Oliver Ortega was able to close out the win.

The penultimate game in the series is set for tomorrow at 6:35 p.m.
