Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush, along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forwards Joe Guenther and Kyle MacDonald have been added to the roster and that forward Brandon Coalter has been released.
Guenther, 26, was acquired by the Everblades in a trade with the Elmira Jackals where the veteran played in five games this season, registering two assists. In return the Jackals will receive future considerations from the Everblades. Now in his sixth professional season, the native of Buffalo, New York brings 301 games of professional experience to the Everblades roster. Last season Guenther skated in all 72 games for the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL and scored 42 points (26g, 16a) and 60 penalty minutes.
Guenther's best professional season came in 2005-06 when he notched 54 points between two Central Hockey League teams. He began the '05-'06 campaign with Tulsa where he collected four points in 15 games, then finished off the season with Amarillo where he tallied 50 points (31g, 19a) in 44 games. Prior to turning pro, Guenther spent two seasons at the junior level in the Ontario Hockey League where he totaled 118 points (59g, 59a) in 117 games with Erie and Toronto.
MacDonald joins the Everblades after beginning the season with the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. The 23-year-old picked up one assist in nine games with the River Rats this year. MacDonald made his professional debut with Albany last season when he skated in 12 games and scored one goal and added two assists. Prior to turning pro the Victoria, British Columbia native spent four seasons playing at the collegiate level where he picked up 103 points (47g, 56a) in 137 career games with R.P.I.
In a separate move, the Everblades moved forward Jonathan Lehun from the 3-day injured reserve list to the 30-day IR, and placed defenseman/forward Ryan Van Buskirk on the 3-day IR.
