Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs exploded for their biggest offensive game in a 6-1 victory over the Wheeling Nailers on Friday night.

David Laliberte started the scoring at 2:50 of the period, putting a one-timer in off of a pass from Sean Collins who stole an Andrew Penner pass. It was all Chiefs after that.

Jean Desrochers scored his fifth of the year to tie the game with help from Mike Knight and Michael Cohen. Brian Deeth scored his first professional goal off of a Desrochers face off win to put the Chiefs ahead to stay.

Alex Imbeault scored the first of four third-period goals just 34 seconds into the final frame. Imbeault, Desrochers, and Cohen would each score after the 11:00 mark of the third period to bury the Nailers. Imbeault's second goal came on the power play to extend the Chiefs streak to seven consecutive games with a power play goal. Cohen, Desrochers, Imbeault, Deeth, and Randy Rowe all had two point nights.

Penner saved 13-of-14 Wheeling shots while Terry Denike saved 36-of-42. Johnstown went 2-for-6 on the power play, and Wheeling went 0-for-2 making it the second straight game Johnstown did not allow a power play goal.

The Chiefs next home game is Friday November, 30 at 7:05 against the Cincinnati Cyclones. That game will be Ameriserv Financial customer appreciation night as well as the second Dodge Shootout Night.
