Evansville Otters Walk-Off with Extra-Innings Win over London

(EVANSVILLE - IN) - Reliever Tony Delmonico attempted to intentionally walk infielder Luis Parache in the bottom of the 10th, but the Evansville Otter reached across the plate, hit a game-winning RBI single to right field and helped Evansville defeat the London Rippers 3-2 on Friday night. b

b0 The Otters had to work their way back from two seperate deficits in the game to win with 4,867 fans at Historic Bosse Field.

London went ahead 1-0 in the first inning, only to see Luis Parache tie the game in the third with a run-producing single to right field.

The Rippers would again score in the top of the seventh inning, as a sacrifice fly from Aaon Glaum re-gained the lead.

Down 2-1, the Otters caught up again in the bottom of the inning on a RBI groundout from outfieder Matt Sheely.

The game would then stay tied into extra innings.

In the tenth, London had a chance to take another lead as the Rippers loaded the bases on reliever Tyree Hayes, without recording a hit. After reliever Eric Massingham replaced Hayes, the closer got Ripper right fielder David Christensen to ground into an inning ending double play on the 12th pitch of the at-bat.

After the Otters put two runners on base to open the bottom of the inning, London reliever Tony Delmonico attempted to intentionally walk Parache, but left the first pitch over the outside corner. Parache then leaned toward the plate, extended the bat, and the left-hander pulled the ball to right field for the game-winner.

Evansville players rushed towards Parache to celebrate the win and all fans in attendance enjoyed fireworks sponsored by Hoosier Lottery to end the memorable night.

The Evansville Otters improve to 9-17 with the win as the London Rippers fall to 11-15.

Otters starting pitcher Dan Blewett struck out a season-high 12 batters over 7.0 innings. The right-hander allowed just two runs on five hits in the no-decision.

dsl240slmult1tx1220 Closer Eric Massingham improves to 2-0 with the win, as reliever Tony Delmonico (0-2) receives the loss after going 3.1 innings and surrendered the go-ahead run.

Evansville will now go for the series win on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. It is Vectren and Best One Tires night at the ballpark with postgame fireworks again taking place after the final out.
