Gateway Grizzlies News Release

NORMAL, IL - Chris Enourato tossed five shutout innings in his first professional start and the Gateway Grizzlies offense needed only six hits to pick up a 4-0 win Friday night at the Corn Crib. The win was the third in a row for the Grizzlies, who have now won three series in a row.

Enourato (1-2) tamed the Normal (8-16) hitters over his five innings for his first win of the season. Enourato scattered three hits while striking out four batters and only issuing one walk in his first start since high school.

Gateway (14-12) walked eight times, collecting only six hits, but still managing to score four runs.

The Grizzlies scored two runs on just one hit in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead. Gateway walked three times in the inning while also getting hit by a pitch. John Shelby picked up an RBI walk and Chris McClendon collected an RBI single.

Gateway roared back with two more runs on two hits in the fifth. Case Rigby led off with a walk and stole his first base of the season before being brought home by Richie Jimenez Jr. on an RBI double. The next batter, Jerod Yakubik, drove in Jimenez on a single.

Logan Mahon and Zac Treece both pitched an inning of relief while Paul Tremlin tossed two scoreless to finish off the Grizzlies third shutout of the season.

McClendon paced the Grizzlies offense with a 2-for-4 night.

The Grizzlies and Cornbelters conclude their series Saturday night in Normal. Right-hander Tim Brown (2-2) makes the start. Brown is third in the Frontier League with a 1.96 ERA and has a league-best two complete games. First pitch is set for 6:30 CT.
