Rockford RiverHawks News Release

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Frank Pfister hit two home runs on Friday as the Schaumburg Boomers beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 11-0.

Pfister's three-run homer to right field keyed a seven-run Schaumburg first inning. He led off the eighth inning with a moonshot that cleared the scoreboard in left field for his sixth home run of the year.

Three Schaumburg pitchers combined on a six-hit shutout. Robby Donovan (3-1) struck out four and walked three over six innings for the win. The RiverHawks didn't reach base against relievers Kaleb Engleke and Joe Parsons. Parsons struck out five in two perfect innings.

Rockford stranded seven, five in scoring position.

Rockford starter Cody Hallahan faced 11 batters in the first inning - after Pfister's homer, Ty Nelson singled in two runs and Nate Baumann double home two more - but lasted until the fifth. Hallahan (1-2) gave up nine runs, seven earned, on 10 hits.

The series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.

The RiverHawks are home at 6:05 p.m. Sunday to play Gateway. Kids 12 and under get in for $2 on YMCA Family Night. Following the game, kids get to run the bases and the RiverHawks will sign autographs.
