Normal CornBelters News Release

Normal, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, couldn't find their groove offensively Friday night at the Corn Crib, falling to the Gateway Grizzlies by a score of 4-0.

Gateway got on the board with two runs in the 4th inning when CornBelter pitcher Tyler Stovall (1-4) issued three walks, hit a batter, and allowed an RBI single to Chris McClendon in the frame.

After another walk in the 5th, Gateway got back-to-back two out hits from Richie Jimenez Jr. and Jerod Yakubik, allowing two more Grizzlies to cross the plate, and pushing the score to 4-0 in favor of the visitors.

That would prove to be all Gateway needed, as they cruised the rest of the way. Normal registered just three hits in the game. Third baseman Chico Gomez doubled for the 'Belters, while catcher Pat Trettel and left fielder Sam Judah each added a single of their own.

The series wraps up 6:30 pm Saturday night at the Corn Crib with RHP Ryan Krumlauf (0-1, 2.77 ERA) taking the ball for Normal, while Tim Brown (2-2, 1.96 ERA) will go for Gateway.

Saturday is the Christian Music Showcase featuring local performers Red Letter Road, Calvary Baptist Church, The Gospelaires, Hosanna Sonset, Jason Collins and 4given. Gates open at 1:30pm for the concert, with performances beginning at 1:45pm.

During the CornBelters game, State Farm Super Saturday presents the very entertaining Reggy the Purple Party Dude! Girl Scout troops are invited to an overnight campout on the field after the game! Tonight is the final night of Ag Week with Pioneer Night, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers.
