ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves take the field in the fourth game of a five-game series against the Binghamton Mets (New York Mets) at Jerry Uht Park. The two clubs split a doubleheader on Tuesday night with the ‘Wolves taking game one 8-2 and the Mets winning game two 11-4. With the game two win, the B-Mets have won the season series over the ‘Wolves. In 12 games against Erie, Binghamton is batting .355 as a club with 13 home runs. The Mets have outscored the ‘Wolves this season 92-71. The ‘Wolves team ERA vs. the Mets is 7.29 which is 2.42 higher than the team's overall ERA. The ‘Wolves have allowed 10 or more runs in five of the 12 games against the B-Mets this season...Righty Lauren Gagnier makes his third start for the SeaWolves and his first against the Mets tonight. Gagnier picked up his first win in his last outing against Akron going six innings, allowing a run on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts....Lefty Jonathan Niese takes the mound for the B-Mets. Niese is making his 22nd start and his second against the ‘Wolves. He has taken no-decisions in each of his last two outings. In his last start against Connecticut, Niese went 6.2 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. Niese beat the ‘Wolves on June 17 at NYSEG Stadium. He went six shutout innings allowing just three hits with two walks and a season-high nine strikeouts...The SeaWolves need to win the next two games in order to pick up their first home series win since sweeping Harrisburg June 27-29...Erie is eight games under .500 against the Northern Division with 14 games remaining against opponents from the North.
