Harrisburg Senators News Release

Bowie, MD - The Harrisburg Senators were again stymied by the Bowie Baysox, this time by a 3-0 final in a game shortened to five innings by heavy rain in Maryland. The Senators have lost four straight games.

The Baysox scored all three runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. LHP Justin Jones issued back-to-back walks to Jonathan Tucker and Mike Rodriguez to lead off the frame. Lou Montanez blistered an RBI double down the left-field line to drive in Tucker and give Bowie a 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Matt Wieters ripped a two-run single up the middle to make it a 3-0 game. Jones induced an inning-ending double play to avoid further damage.

Bowie RHP Brad Bergesen locked down the Senators from there, holding them to a pair of hits and a walk while striking out three. The Senators loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the 4th but Bergesen worked out of danger with a strikeout and a double play to pull the plug on the rally keep it a 3-0 margin.

Jones was saddled with the loss to fall to 2-1. Bergesen went to 12-3, picking up his third win against the Senators this season.

The Senators dipped to 56-46. Bowie advanced to 60-45.

The Senators and Baysox finish their four-game series Thursday at 11:05 AM. RHP Zack Segovia makes his Senators debut against Bowie RHP David Hernandez (5-3, 2.65 ERA).
