Wednesday's Curve Game Still Scheduled
July 23, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA- A little rain won't stop the Curve from opening ballpark gates at 6 p.m. and presenting fans with a fun night at Blair County Ballpark, featuring a collectible giveaway item, a great food special, and an exciting matchup against the first-place Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians' affiliate).
Wednesday's 7:05 p.m. game against Akron is still scheduled despite rain showers which arrived at Blair County Ballpark at approximately 3:50 p.m. The Curve Grounds Crew covered the infield shortly before the rain began and once the weather stops, the tarp will be lifted and the field will be prepared for baseball.
Fans who don't already have tickets to Wednesday's game, can take advantage of a great offer courtesy of the Curve and Giant Eagle. Fans bringing their Giant Eagle Advantage Card to the Blair County Ballpark Ticket Office will receive a BUY ONE TICKET, GET ONE TICKET FREE offer in the UPMC Health Plan Home Run Junction Outfield Bleachers.
Once fans have their tickets, the first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive the second in a series of six Curve Tenth Anniversary Team Photo Baseballs courtesy of Mid-Atlantic Dairy. Tonight's collectible baseball will feature Tenth Anniversary Team members Matt Capps and Jack Wilson.
In addition, it's $1 Hot Dog Night at Blair County Ballpark. All game long fans will be able to feast on dollar dogs courtesy of Atlantic Broadband!
Fans who can't make it to Wednesday's game, can join the Curve for a special Thursday matinee game at BCB. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. on "Super Splash Day", when the Curve will turn the ballpark into a water park. Fans are invited to wear swimming trunks or a bathing suit and have fun in the sun. Those who don't want to get wet shouldn't worry -- there will be specially-designated "Dry Zones" throughout the ballpark.
Great seats still remain for both tonight and Thursday's games and can be purchased by visiting the Blair County Ballpark Ticket Office or by calling (877) 99-CURVE. Fans can also buy and print their own Curve tickets on-line at AltoonaCurve.com.
