ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves look to snap a seven-game losing streak as they begin a six-game road trip and three-game series at Hadlock Field against the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox). The 'Wolves have been swept in back-to-back series by the Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats and have dropped to a season-low 10 games under .500. Since overtaking first place in the Western Division on May 19, Erie has gone on to lose 20 of its last 23 games. A loss tonight would give the 'Wolves their third eight-game losing skid of the season...Erie is 2-1 in games following an off-day and the team is 8-11 in series openers. Erie has dropped three of the last four series opening games...Tonight, the 'Wolves send lefty Duane Below to the mound making his 13th start and second start against Portland in as many outings. In his last start against the Sea Dogs, Below went 4.1 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Below has allowed two or fewer earned runs in eight of his last nine starts...Righty Kyle Weiland takes the mound for Portland. Weiland makes his 11th start and first against Erie. In his last start against Reading, Weiland picked up a win going five innings, allowing one run on three hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Weiland has won his last two starts.
