Wordekemper Transferred To Scranton, Norton Promoted To Trenton

(TRENTON NJ) The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees announced today that RHP Eric Wordekemper has been transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and that they have received RHP Tim Norton from Single-A Tampa.

Wordekemper, 26, is 3-0 with a 2.88 ERA in 23 appearances for the Thunder in 2010. He also has eight saves and has struck out 35 batters in 34 1/3 innings pitched this season. Wordekemper appeared in ten games for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees last season, going 2-0 with a 4.32 ERA in 16 2/3 innings pitched.

Norton, 27, has pitched in 12 games out of the Tampa Yankees bullpen in 2010. He is 0-0 with a 1.69 ERA in 21 1/3 innings pitched. This will be his first appearance at the Double-A level. Norton was selected by the Yankees in the seventh round of the 2006 June Draft out of the University of Connecticut.

The Thunder open up a three game series at Waterfront Park against the Altoona Curve on Tuesday. The Thunder will have RHP David Phelps (4-0, 2.08) throw agianst RHP Tim Alderson (5-2, 4.29) for Altoona.
