Richmond Flying Squirrels News Release
The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, have announced that the Flying Squirrels' General Manager Bill Papierniak will be wrestling a seven-and-a-half foot alligator on Friday night, June 18th presented by Q94.
Gatorland, based out of Orlando, FL, will be bringing the seven-and-a-half foot alligator along with a giant snake, a three foot alligator, and a lizard, to The Diamond on Friday night. Papierniak will be assisting in wrestling the alligator on the field prior to the start of the game.
"I've done some wrastlin' in my lifetime, so it should be a pretty even matchup," said Papierniak. "What I lack in height compared to the alligator, I make up for in speed and agility. I'm like a mongoose really"
The Alligator Wrestler will be bringing the remaining animals out on to the field between innings to share fun facts. Fans will then have a chance to pose for pictures with the critters on the main concourse.
Friday nights at The Diamond are also for the ladies. Ladies Night features drawings for prizes catered towards the female fans. Signup sheets can be found in The Nutshell, the Flying Squirrels game day program, and turned in to Costco Customer Care Center.
Friday night will also feature Where's Parney. Find the Flying Squirrels Vice President and COO Todd "Parney" Parnell out in Richmond after the game. The first clue for Friday night: Parney is just a regular old comedian.
Previous and current clues can be found at SquirrelsBaseball.com on the left-hand side of the page. The first twenty to find Parney will receive a special t-shirt.
First pitch Friday night against the Altoona Curve is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Gates will open at 6:00 with live music provided by Road Kill Roy.
Great seats still remain for Alligator Wrestling and the remainder of the home stand. Tickets can be purchased today by visiting the team's ticket office at The Diamond, calling (804) 359-FUNN (3866), or logging on to SquirrelsBaseball.com.
