Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Hunter Owen launched his team-leading 15th home run in the Indianapolis Indians loss to the Iowa Cubs on Wednesday night, 4-3.

After the I-Cubs (43-61) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Owen sent a towering fly ball onto the left-field berm to even the game. It was his fourth home run against Iowa this season after he hit a pair on Aug. 6 at Principal Park.

Tanner Anderson (L, 2-2) surrendered his second run in the third inning when, with one out, Trayce Thompson doubled home Nick Martini from first base. Iowa then tacked on two more runs on Abiatal Avelino's 17th double of the season in the eighth inning.

The Indians (49-54) strung together a comeback effort in the bottom of the eighth to tighten the game back to one run. Following a leadoff single by Fabricio Macias and a pinch-hit double off the bat of Bligh Madris, a wild pitch scored one. Diego Castillo, making his Triple-A debut, then drove in Madris on a sacrifice fly.

Luis Lugo (W, 1-1) tossed a quality start with just one run allowed on two hits in six innings. Juan Gamez (S, 1) recorded the final five outs of the game with one hit surrendered.

Indianapolis and Iowa will face off in the third game of the series on Thursday night at 7:05 PM ET. RHP Beau Sulser (5-5, 4.53) will take the mound for the Indians while the Cubs have yet to name a starter.
