Greenville Grrrowl News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl of the East Coast Hockey League approach the final weekend of the regular season with a 4 point lead over the Augusta Lynx for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Southeast Division. The "Magic Number" for Greenville to secure that post-season invitation is two. Any combination of two wins by the Grrrowl or two losses by the Lynx means the defending Kelly Cup Champions will be headed to the 2003 Playoffs, which begin next Tuesday, April 1st.

The team that finishes in fifth place will visit the fourth seed for a one-game elimination showdown on Tuesday. Round two of the 2003 Kelly Cup Playoffs then begins on Wednesday, April 2nd.

The Greenville Grrrowl visit the Pee Dee Pride tomorrow (Thursday) night at 7:00 PM (Newsradio 1330 & 950, WORD). They finish the regular season with a pair of home games Saturday night at 7:05 PM against Augusta, and Sunday afternoon at 3:05 PM against Greensboro. Augusta hosts South Carolina on Friday, travels to Greenville Saturday, and finishes the regular season at home against Pee Dee on Sunday.

The Florida Everblades are battling the Pee Dee Pride for the third seed in the Southeast Division. Florida suffered a 5-2 loss to Charlotte on Tuesday. The ‘Blades finish the regular season with a two-game series against the Columbia Inferno Friday and Saturday at TECO Arena in Estero, Florida.

The remaining schedule for Pee Dee includes a home game against Greenville on Thursday, a trip to North Charleston on Saturday, and a season-ending date in Augusta on Sunday.
