Greenville Grrrowl News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl of the East Coast Hockey League announced on Wednesday that the annual game-worn jersey auction held Tuesday night at the BI-LO Center raised a total of $9,225.00, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Center Ice Charities.

"This is another great way for the hockey team to give something back to the community that has been so good to us for the last five years", said ScheerSports Chairman and Chief Executive Officer CARL SCHEER. "We want to remain a strong asset to Greenville and the surrounding area, and this is one of many things we do to solidify that position. Our fans deserve most of the credit for making this a successful event."

The jersey of veteran goaltender DAMIAN RHODES attracted the highest bid at $950.00, while former Greenville fan favorite SIMON GAMACHE's jersey gathered $750.00. Rhodes has played 309 career games in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators and Atlanta Thrashers. Gamache leads the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves with 33 goals, and he made his NHL debut with the Thrashers earlier this month.

Center Ice Charities was created in a partnership with Greenville Professional Hockey, and the BI-LO Center in 1998 to provide a vehicle to contribute funds to charitable organizations throughout the Upstate via the Community Foundation of Greater Greenville.
