Baton Rouge's Record Scoreless Streak Ends at 320:09

March 26, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release

PRINCETON, N.J. – Scott Hewson's power-play goal at 11:26 of the third period of Wednesday's 4-1 loss at Mississippi ended Baton Rouge's ECHL record scoreless streak at 320:09 and ended Baton Rouge's ECHL record for consecutive games being shut out at four.

Prior to Hewson's goal, the Kingfish had not scored since Joe Guenther's goal at 16:17 of the second period in a 4-3 shootout win against South Carolina on March 8.

Baton Rouge has been shut out five times in its last seven games and 10 times in 2002-03, tying the ECHL record set by the Wheeling Nailers in 1998-99.

The National Hockey League record for most consecutive games shut out is eight set by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1928-29. The American Hockey League record for longest streak to be shut out by opponents is 258:49 set by New Haven in 1938-39.
