Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

FLORENCE, SC – The East Coast Hockey League today announced that Pee Dee Pride right wing Mike Glumac has been named to the league's All-Rookie Team. The team was selected in a vote by ECHL coaches, who were asked to select a goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards.

Glumac has enjoyed a fabulous freshman campaign. In 67 games, the Miami University product has 36 goals and 32 assists for 68 points. His 36 goals lead all ECHL rookies, while his 68 points are third among first-year players. In addition, Glumac's plus-37 rating is second among all league players.

It is not the first time this season that Glumac has been feted by the league. He was honored as the CCM Rookie of the Month in October, added the C & T Hockey Products Plus Performer of the Month in November and in January, he participated in the Compuware/ECHL All-Star Game in Estero, FL.

The 22-year-old Niagara Falls native has already set a Pride team record for goals in a season by a rookie, breaking the previous record of 33, set by Wes Goldie in 2000-2001. With three games remaining in the regular season, he is three goals shy of the Pride record for goals in a single season of 39, set by Dany Bousquet in 2000-2001.

It is the first time in the three-year history of the All-Rookie team that a Pride player has been named to the team. Three Pride players have been named First-Team All-Stars: Trevor Demmans and Bousquet in 2000-01, and Allan Sirois in 1998-99.

Pee Dee wraps its regular season with three games this week. Tomorrow night, the Pride host the Greenville Grrrowl at 7:00 in the regular season home finale. Tickets are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com. The Pride then hit the road for their final two games of the season, playing at South Carolina on Saturday (7:30), and at Augusta on Sunday (4:05).
