(Windsor, CO) --- The Colorado Eagles took down the Alaska Aces 7-2 Saturday at the Budweiser Events Center, as forward Johnny Lazo netted two goals and an assist and defenseman Collin Bowman added a goal and two assists in the Eagles sixth-straight victory.

Lazo continued his hot streak, putting the Eagles on the board first in the opening frame. Lazo laid down a big hit at the blue line to create a scoring lane and placed the puck past Aces goaltender Stephen Summerhays with a shot to the low corner. It was his eighth goal of the season and gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead with 11:37 to play in the period.

The Eagles took a 2-0 lead late in the first when forward Kyle Kraemer got a stick on a shot from Collin Bowman and tipped the puck into the net with 12 seconds to play in the period.

Colorado held a 2-0 advantage heading into first intermission.

The Eagles executed a scoring barrage in the second, scoring four goals from four different skaters on the period. Bowman found the back of the net first, ripping a shot from the point to score an unassisted goal and give the Eagles a 3-0 lead at the 7:31 mark of the frame.

Defenseman Colin Joe got the fourth goal of the night, taking an assist from Lazo and firing a shot from the left side for the 4-0 lead with 4:20 to play in the second. Just 39 seconds later, Colorado added another, this time off the stick of defenseman Adrian Veideman on the powerplay from the right circle.

After the Eagles fifth tally, the Aces made a change in goal, putting in Troy Redmann in place of Summerhays.

The Eagles added another goal before time ran out on the second period when forward Jesse Mychan scored his 18th goal of the season in traffic from the left side with 1:36 to play in the second period. Colorado held a 6-0 lead heading into the third period.

Alaska scored two early goals in the third period. The first came off the stick of forward Peter Sivak who scored just 52 seconds into the period on the powerplay. Defenseman Mitch Jones cut the Eagles lead to 6-2 with his second goal of the weekend at the 2:45 mark of the period.

Lazo padded the Eagles score even further with his second goal of the night and ninth in the last nine games, as forward Kyle Ostrow passed the puck from behind the net to Lazo who ripped a shot past Redmann to give the Eagles a 7-2 lead at the 3:20 mark of the third.

Goaltender Clarke Saunders claimed the win in net, stopping 30 of the 32 shots he faced.

The Eagles hit the road next Friday for a one-game tilt against the Wichita Thunder. Puck drop is at 7:05 CST.
