Last Night

Curtis Valk scored twice and added two assists as the host Kalamazoo Wings scored six straight goals- including five in the second period- before surviving a third period Mallards comeback bid to claim a 6-5 victory.

Race

With last night's loss the Mallards remain in fourth place in the Midwest Division, two points behind Cincinnati.

Skid

The Mallards have matched their longest losing streak of the season by dropping four straight games. The Mallards last endured a longer regulation losing streak when they lost five consecutive International Hockey League games between January 16 and January 24, 2010.

On the Road

Tonight's game is the fourth of five straight on the road for the Mallards. They have lost three straight on the road.

Nickel

The Mallards last night gave up more goals in one period (five in the second) than they have in a single period since allowing five in the second period of a 6-5 home loss to the Brampton Beast on March 1, 2014.

Even Steven

The Mallards have dropped to .500 for the first time since a 3-1 loss on November 13, 2015 in Cincinnati left them with a record of 5-5-3. The Mallards have not dipped under .500 since November, 1, 2014 when a 5-4 home loss to the Cyclones left them with a record of 2-3-0.

Between the Pipes

Rookie David Jacobson last night made his ECHL debut when he replaced Brody Hoffman in goal for the Mallards at the start of the third period. Hoffman, who made 19 saves while giving up five goals yesterday evening, has established team season highs by starting three straight games and playing in five straight. Jacobson, who signed with the Mallards Thursday after starting the season in the Southern Professional Hockey League, took the loss despite stopping of seven of the eight shots he faced last night.

First

Kevin Gibson last night scored his first career goal.

Streaking

Austin Coldwell picked up an assist last night and has now recorded 12 points (one goal and 11 assists) in his last ten games.

Trifecta

Matt Carey matched a team season high by notching three points (one goal and two assists) last night.

Leader of the Pack

Matt Neal scored his team leading twelfth goal last night and added an assist to tie Olivier Archambault for the team lead in points.

Head to Head

The Mallards have gone 2-1-0 against the Cyclones this season and 1-1-0 in Cincinnati. They have gone 2-3-0 all-time against the Cyclones.

Special Teams

Gibson's third period power play goal last night ended the Mallards' 0-for-17 man advantage drought. Valk's second period power play goal last night halted the Mallards' run of 14 straight successful penalty kills.

Ins and Outs

The Mallards Thursday signed goaltender David Jacobson...Olivier Archambault (upper body) and Tanner Eberle (upper body) have missed the Mallards' last four games...Zach Pochiro (upper body), who has missed the Mallards' last 12 games, is on 21-day injured reserve.
