Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Andrew Dommett and Joe Houk scored second period tallies to defeat the Florida Everblades 2-1 on Saturday night at Germain Arena. Florida's unbeaten streak ends at nine games (8-0-0-1).
Unlike last night the Everblades were able to jump out in front first scoring the game's opening goal just three minutes into the game.
At the 3:31 mark Jon DiSalvatore buried a Matt Marquardt pass into the back of the net past Mackenzie Skapski. Marquardt and DiSalvatore led the Everblades on a 2-on-1 attack into the Swamp Rabbits' zone when Marquardt flipped a pass over to DiSalvatore from the left wing circle where DiSalvatore was able to put in the first goal of the night, taking the Everblades into the second period with a 1-0 lead.
In the second frame it was all Swamp Rabbits as they scored two goals to take the lead.
Seven minutes into the second period, Andrew Dommett raced into the Everblades' offensive zone on the left wing and blasted the puck over the left shoulder of Anthony Peters to tie the game up 1-1.
Then with just under four minutes left to play in the second period, Joe Houk wristed a shot from the high slot finding the back of the net giving the Swamp Rabbits a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.
In the third, the Everblades and Swamp Rabbits traded scoring opportunities back and forth, but neither were able to find the back of the net. Skapski was able turn aside all eight shots faced in the final stanza to seal the Swamp Rabbits the 2-1 victory.
Mackenzie Skapski takes home the victory stopping 25 of 26 shots, while Anthony Peters takes the loss allowing two goals on 16 shots on net.
The Everblades head out on the road taking on the Atlanta Gladiators next Friday Feb 5 at the Infinite Energy Arena. Game time is set at 7:35 p.m.
