Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Allen Americans and Tulsa Oilers have split the first two of the four game set. The tie was broken on Saturday night, as Tulsa beat the Americans 5-2.

Offense was not hard to come by in the 7-1 beating of the Oilers on Friday night, however, the Americans had trouble getting going in the first period on Saturday night. Tulsa was able to crack the ice courtesy of an Emerson Clark deflection. Allen netminder Joel Rumpel was peppered in the first, facing 15 shots. Tulsa's Kevin Carr saw 9 shots from the Americans, turning aside all of them.

Allen offensive woes continued in the second period. Offensive woes continued to elude the Oilers in the second period. Joel Rumpel allowed two almost identical Tulsa goals. Wrist shots from Phil Brewer and Christophe Lalancette from the top of the faceoff circle. Allen evened things in the shots on goal department, however, were not able to crack the code of Carr. Rumpel did well to keep the score respectable throughout the game up to that point.

Allen has to be credited for making things interesting in the final period. Chad Costello got the Americans on the board early in third period and Gary Steffes made things more interesting with a goal of his own with just over five minutes left in the game. Allen climbed back in to make it 3-2 Tulsa late in the game. However, Jordan Kremyr gave Tulsa some breathing room with another Oilers goal right after the Steffes tally, making it 4-2. Brewer topped things off with an empty net goal, making it a 5-2 victory for the Oilers.

The Americans have a chance to finish even in the four game set with Tulsa tomorrow, at 4:05 pm, in Allen, at the Allen Event Center.
