MAGNIFYING THE MATCHUP
Tonight the Jackals and Nailers will meet in the tail end of a two-game set in Elmira. This contest will mark the third of six meetings this season, which is the second-lowest total in a single season between the Jackals and Nailers. In last night's game, Cason Hohmann scored for the fourth straight game to push his point streak to six games overall but that was the lone goal Elmira scored in a 4-1 defeat. Hohmann's 15th goal of the season leads all Jackals and Chris Langkow's 17th assist is tops among Elmira skaters. Prior to last night, these two rivals met just once this season, in Wheeling on December 6th. That meeting marked the latest in a season these two clubs have faced-off since the Jackals joined the ECHL. In that contest, Jacob MacDonald scored a shorthanded goal and Tyler Currier added a goal en route to a 3-2 shootout win. This will also be the first year since the 2010-11 campaign that these two former divisional rivals have not faced off at least 13 times. Elmira is 42-33-11 all-time against Wheeling.
