Eagles Snap Wranglers' Winning Streak

January 6, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - After tying a three-goal deficit in the second period, the Las Vegas Wranglers fell 5-3 to the Colorado Eagles tonight in the first of a two-game road series.

Three goals in eight minutes gave Colorado a 3-0 lead over Las Vegas in the first period. A pair of power play goals from Eagles forward Michael Forney and defenseman Jon Landry, and a goal from forward Aaron Slattengren at the 19:17 mark, had almost sealed the fate of the frame until Wranglers forward Eric Lampe put Las Vegas on the board with 14 seconds left in the first. With that goal, Lampe extended his point-scoring streak to 14 games and tied the Wranglers' all-time record for longest point-scoring streak, held by center Adam Miller from the 2010-11 season. The period ended 3-1 in favor of Colorado.

The Wranglers tied the game 3-3 midway through the second on goals by forward Scott Campbell and center Geoff Paukovich. Colorado was quick to respond, though, and forward Patrick Cey gave the team a 4-3 lead less than four minutes later. Eagles forward Kevin Ulanski netted a goal midway through the third and secured the win for Colorado with a final score of 5-3.

Las Vegas finishes the two-game series against Colorado tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m., and will see the Ontario Reign on the road on Wednesday, Jan. 11, before returning home to play the Reign on Jan. 13 and 14. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
