IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Elmira Jackals search for their third seven-game winning streak since joining the ECHL when they battle the South Carolina Stingrays at First Arena at 7:35 p.m. The Jackals matched their season-high six-game winning streak on Saturday with a 2-1 come-from-behind shootout victory over the Trenton Titans on the road. With the victory, Elmira moved into first place in the Eastern Conference, leapfrogging past the Gwinnett Gladiators for the top spot. South Carolina carries a four-game losing streak into Elmira, but is 2-0 against the Jackals in 2011-2012.
WINNING STREAK ON THE LINE
The Jackals' current six-game winning streak equals their 2011-2012 season best, previously accomplished from Nov. 26 - Dec. 7. The winning streak is the team's longest since the Jackals won seven-straight contests to start the 2009-2010 season from Oct. 16 to 31. Elmira also won seven-consecutive games from Nov. 17 to 27 of the 2007-2008 campaign. The Jackals' seven-game winning streak is the longest same-season streak since they joined the ECHL in 2007. Elmira won 10-straight games over two different ECHL campaigns from the end of 2008-2009 through the start of 2009-2010. The longest winning streak in franchise history is 12 games, which the Jackals accomplished from Oct. 12 to Nov. 4 in 2001-2002 during their second season of play in the UHL.
COMEBACK KINGS
The last three Jackals wins have occurred when they trailed after two periods, and Elmira leads the league with six wins when trailing after 40 minutes. The Jackals are 6-7-0-0 when facing a deficit heading into the third period in 2011-2012. Last season, Elmira totaled four wins when trailing after two and was 4-21-1-0 in that situation.
