The Aces came out and dominated play in the opening minutes. Alaska outshot Utah 9-1 to start the game and scored the first two goals of the contest. Dan Kissel got the scoring started with a rebound goal on a power play at 2:05. Wes goldie furnished an assist on the goal, to extend the scoring streaks of Kissel and Goldie to eight games. The Aces added to their lead when Jordan Kremyr redirected a Bryan Miller shot at 12:02 to make it 2-0. The Grizzlies mounted an attack in the final five minutes of the period, and eventually broke through in the final seconds. At 19:54 Mitch Fadden scored on a turnaround shot from the slot on a Grizzlies power play. Alaska took a 2-1 lead into the intermission break after outshooting Utah 14-10.

Physical play between the division rivals intensified in the second period, but no goals were scored at either end. Alaska outshot Utah 14-4 in the frame that seemed much more evenly played that the statistics showed. The Aces kept their one-goal lead heading into the final period.

The Aces and Grizzlies played the third period much of the same way until Chad Anderson finally gave the Aces the insurance they had been looking for. At 16:35 Anderson sent a shot from the blue line through traffic and past a screened Andrew Engelage to make it 3-1. Alaska added a shorthanded, empty net goal from Zach Harrison at 18:57 to seal their fourth straight victory over Utah.

Adam Courchaine (9-1-3) earned the win, making 17 saves on 18 shots, and Andrew Engelage (10-9-1) made 37 saves on 40 shots, taking the loss. The Aces power play went 1-8, while the Grizzlies went 1-34 Alaska outshot Utah 41-18 in the game.
