
Duvall, Florimon Homer in Gwinnett's 8-2 Win over Norfolk

NORFOLK, VA - The Gwinnett Stripers (48-36) beat the Norfolk Tides (33-52) by an 8-2 score Wednesday night in the finale of the three-game series at Harbor Park. The Stripers got a pair of homers; one from Adam Duvall, the other by Pedro Florimon in the win.
Scoring Recap: The Stripers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Jack Lopez scored from third on a throwing error. The lead grew to 4-0 in the top of the sixth as Duvall (25) crushed a three-run homer to left off Chandler Shepherd. The two Norfolk runs came in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single by Engelb Vielma and Ademar Rifaela scoring from third on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 4-2. The Stripers added four in the top of the ninth off reliever Jay Flaa. A two-run double to left by Alex Jackson pushed the lead to 6-2. Florimon (4) followed with a two-run blast to center.
Stripers Stats: Kyle Wright (W, 6-4) was dominate in 6.0 scoreless inning with no walks and eight strikeouts. Thomas Burrows, in his first game back in a Gwinnett uniform since being promoted from Double-A Mississippi, worked 1.2 scoreless innings. Jason Creasy closed out the game with a scoreless bottom of the ninth. At the plate, Jackson was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Duvall was 1-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs. Florimon was 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.
Tides Stats: Shepherd (L, 0-7) worked 5.0 innings with four hits and four earned runs. David Hess pitched 2.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Offensively, Rifaela was 3-for-4 with a run and Anderson Feliz was 2-for-4.
Postgame Notes: Duvall's sixth inning homer moves him into first place in the International League with 25. Additionally, he leads the IL with 68 RBIs. Rafael Ortega was 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 12 games. The win was Wright's third in his last four starts.
