Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

MOOSIC, Pa. - If you build it, they will come. Or so the line goes in the 1989 classic flick Field of Dreams. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders plan to go the distance on Friday, July 5, at PNC Field by honoring one of the best baseball movies of all-time while also raising funds for Stand Up To Cancer.

Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with game one of a twinbill against the Rochester Red Wings set for 5:05 p.m. All fans that arrive at the E-Auto Box Office at PNC Field shoeless will receive a 19.19% off coupon, good for the team store on July 5 only.

After game one ends, fans can play catch in the outfield between games for a $10 per person donation to cancer research.

Field of Dreams Night, presented by Mrs. T's Pierogies, features custom RailRiders jerseys with a twist on the SWB logo, ala the 1919 White Sox. These throwback-inspired jerseys will be worn in game two of a doubleheader against the Rochester Red Wings, autographed and auctioned off to benefit Stand Up To Cancer.

Throughout the night, actor Dwier Brown, who portrayed John Kinsella in the film, will sign autographs on the concourse between 5 and 7 p.m. as part of the Mohegan Sun Celebrity Series. Ray Kinsella cut down his corn to build a baseball field in the film, not to connect with "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, but to instead reunite with his father John. Mr. Brown will also autograph a jersey that will be available in the auction to benefit Stand Up To Cancer.

As they have done in years past, the RailRiders will halt a game and encourage all players and fans to Stand Up To Cancer. An initiative that began in the 2017 Triple-A National Championship Game in Moosic, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Rochester will stop play at the end of the first inning of the second game. Placards will be available for players and fans to pay tribute to someone in their respective lives who has been impacted by cancer.

Text donations to Stand Up To Cancer are being accepted now. Text SWBRR to 40202 to donate $5 to Stand Up to Cancer.

Great themed food items will be available throughout the ballpark all night, including Moonlight Graham Smores Milkshakes, Ty Corn on the Cobb, Go the Distance Pierogi Nachos and Peace, Love, Dope Chicken Tenders.

The area's best fireworks show will begin after the final out of game two, presented by Shur Save Supermarkets.

Tickets for the upcoming five-game, four-day homestand, which also features fireworks on July 4 and 6, are available online at swbrailriders.com.
