DuRapau Named Indians April Player of the Month

INDIANAPOLIS - Today the Indianapolis Indians announced relief pitcher Montana DuRapau as their April Player of the Month Award winner.

The 27-year-old tallied two saves and gave up one unearned run over 11.1 innings pitched in April, spanning nine appearances. He struck out 14, walked four and surrendered just three hits in the month en route to a .086 batting average against. DuRapau suffered the loss in his season debut on April 7 at Columbus but bounced back with eight straight scoreless outings, allowing just five total baserunners (two hits, two walks, one hit batter) along the way.

On the season, the Florida native is 1-1 with three saves and his perfect ERA still intact. He has 17 strikeouts in 13.1 innings of work and is riding an 11.2 innings scoreless streak, the longest by a Tribe pitcher in 2019.

DuRapau was selected by the Pirates in the 32nd round (971st overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Bethune-Cookman College and has piled up 57 saves in his six-year professional career.
