Dupuis Becomes Second Condors All-Star

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, who sit atop the ECHL with 24 wins and 53 points, will now have two representatives at the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game next week in Reading, Pa. Defenseman Guy Dupuis will join the National Conference squad along with rookie winger Connor James, who was announced as a participant last week.

Dupuis, 34, is in his 15th year of professional hockey and has been a major contributor to the Condors success through the entire season. He is currently second in the league and first in the conference in points for a defenseman and is third on the Condors with 28 points. Dupuis is also tied for first on the Condors along with James with a +14 rating and leads all ECHL blueliners with 22 helpers. It's the fourth All-Star Game in his career, playing in two while in the International Hockey League and one last season in the United Hockey League.

The 13th Annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition will be held at the 7,215-seat Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. The Skills Competition will be on January 25th at 4:05 p.m. (Pacific) and the All- Star Game will be played on January 26 at 4:05 p.m. (Pacific). Fans can tune in to Condors Flagship Station KGEO AM 1230.

Fukufuji and Nagel Selected for National Teams

Condors goaltender and Los Angeles Kings prospect Yutaka Fukufuji is one of four netminders on the Japanese national team roster for the 2005 Olympic qualifying tournament. The tournament starts on February 10th in Switzerland, and will determine which additional teams will compete in the 2006 Winter Games in Turin, Italy. Japan is in the four-team Group A of the tournament, looking to join the eight teams that have already qualified.

With Norway also scheduled to compete in the Group A, along with Japan, Denmark and Switzerland, Norwegian Condors center Lars-Peder Nagel has been tabbed for their national team roster. Nagel, who is currently the team's leader in points with 35 and is also the fourth highest scoring rookie player in the ECHL.

Fukufuji backstopped Team Japan in the 2004 World Championships and Nagel has represented his country five times in international play since 1999. It is not yet been determined whether either player will join their respective Olympic squad.

The Condors are in Idaho for two more games this week, on Friday and Saturday night for 6:05 p.m. starts. They return home to host the Fresno Falcons on Monday, January 24th for a 7:00 p.m. match. That night is Ladies' Night, sponsored by the Groove 99.3. All ladies can purchase 2-for-1 tickets and it will be females-only for all the night's promotions and intermission activities. On Friday, January 28th, the Condors square off against the Long Beach Ice Dogs in what could be a battle for first place in the West Division. That night, the first 2,000 fans will receive a Connor James bobblehead doll, sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and Carl's Jr.

Individual game tickets are now on sale and may be purchased through the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location.
