
Condors Triumph in Idaho, 3-1

Boise, Idaho - The Bakersfield Condors took a 3-1 lead in the opening period and held that score for their league-leading 24th victory of the season, downing the Idaho Steelheads at the Bank of America Centre on Wednesday night. The Condors are 8-0-1 in their last nine games.
Bakersfield opened up a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Brett Lutes and Lars-Peder Nagel just over two minutes apart midway through. Nagel took the team lead in goals with his 14th of the season, coming on the power play. Idaho got on the board with a goal from veteran Marty Flichel, but the Condors regained the two-goal lead late in the stanza with Paul Rosebush's 10th of the season.
The Condors held the Steelheads to just four second period shots on goal, despite three Idaho power plays in the frame. They held the 3-1 advantage through the end of the second, putting 11 shots of their own in on Steelheads netminder Frank Doyle.
For the second straight game, a 3-1 first period lead stood the length of regulation, as neither team scored in the final period either. Randy Petruk earned his 10th victory of the season and Bakersfield has allowed just nine goals in their last six games. Meanwhile the Condors recorded victory number 24 on the year and improved to 2-0-1 against the Steelheads.
Bakersfield takes on Idaho on Friday and Saturday as well, both 6:05 p.m. starts from Boise. They return home to host the Fresno Falcons on Monday, January 24th for a 7:00 p.m. match. That night is Ladies' Night, sponsored by the Groove 99.3. All ladies can purchase 2-for-1 tickets and it will be females-only for all the night's promotions and intermission activities. On Friday, January 28th, the Condors square off against the Long Beach Ice Dogs in what could be a battle for first place in the West Division. That night, the first 2,000 fans will receive a Connor James bobblehead doll, sponsored by KGET- TV 17 and Carl's Jr.
