Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - The Bakersfield Condors visited the Bank of America Centre for the first time this season and with a 3-1 victory over the Idaho Steelheads showed the 4,172 fans in attendance why they are in first place in the ECHL. The Condors outplayed Idaho all three periods and recorded 36 shots on the Steelheads' net, while holding Idaho to only 20 on the night. All four goals were tallied in the first period.

Idaho had a good opportunity to tally the first point of the game with the first power play at 7:10, but couldn't do anything with it. Instead, a few minutes later Bakersfield put a point on the board. James Connor fed Brett Lutes who skated the puck in and beat Idaho's netminder Frank Doyle with a wrister at 10:42. The Condors took a 2-0 lead at 12:57, on the power play, when Lars-Peder Nagel waited for Doyle to go down to make the save, then deked him out stick side. Idaho answered back quickly. Marty Flichel found the rebound from defenseman Jonathan Zion's shot and scored with Randy Petruk out of position at 13:28. However, Bakersfield quickly recuperated the two-goal lead when Paul Rosebush knocked home Todd Alexander's shot rebound with less than two minutes remaining in the period.

Bakersfield improves its league-leading record to 22-10-3 and Idaho drops to 18-16-3.

The two teams resume the three-game series Friday night at the Bank of America Centre, 7:10 p.m.
