Sacramento River Cats News Release
EL PASO, TX - The Sacramento River Cats (26-29) defeated the El Paso Chihuahuas (27-28) by the final score of 7-3 on Thursday night thanks to four extra base hits from leadoff man Steven Duggar and a brilliant performance from lefty Conner Menez.
The River Cats jumped out to a 5-0 lead after scoring runs in each of the first four innings. The tandem of Steven Duggar and Ryder Jones lead the way at the plate as they combined to go 8-for-10 on Thursday night. Duggar had three doubles, a triple, and scored three times in the victory.
Left-handed pitcher Conner Menez was excellent in just his second Triple-A outing, taking a no-hitter into the fifth and a shutout through seven. Menez finished with eight strikeouts and only allowed four baserunners in seven innings pitched.
The River Cats take on the Chihuahuas in game three of this series tomorrow. Right-hander Tyler Beede (2-5, 6.23) takes the mound after an impressive four-inning relief appearance on May 26.
