Reno Aces News Release

Today's Game: Jake Buchanan will get the nod for Reno tonight, hoping the Aces offense duplicates their success from last night. Kevin Cron enters tonight's contest having homered in back-to-back games and coming off a career-high six-RBI performance. The Aces will face Mets' Triple-A southpaw P.J. Conlon. Conlon has appeared in two games for the Mets this season and has made eight starts for the 51's.

About Last Night: The Reno Aces blew out the Las Vegas 51's on Thursday night, exploding for a season-high 20 runs on 21 hits. Every Aces player in the starting lineup except for pitcher, Bradin Hagens, recorded a hit and six players finished with three hits. Hagens threw 5.2 innings, allowed just four hits and allowed two runs to record his second win of the season. Michael Dimock finished the slaughter, allowing one run in 3.1 innings of relief. The win brings the Aces to a record of 24-31 in 2018.

Runs, More Runs: The Aces 20 runs tonight were the most scored by the Reno franchise in over 392 days. On May 4, 2017, the Aces defeated the Salt Lake Bees 22-3 at Greater Nevada Field. Oswaldo Arcia went 5-for-6 with 4 runs and three RBI. Kristopher Negron, Ildemaro Vargas, Hank Conger and Carlos Rivero added three hits of their own. The Aces set a franchise-best with 26 hits.

Big RBI Guy: As a power hitter, Kevin Cron has accomplished plenty of feats in hitting. On Thursday, he accomplished a new one. Arizona's No. 19 prospect drove in six runs for the first time in his career last night. Cron extended his hitting streak to six games and has driven in a run in five of his last six games with multiple runs in four of those contests. In his first season in Reno, the 25-year-old is batting .275 in 91 at-bats. He's hit four homers after going deep 25 times a year ago at Double-A Jackson.

New Records: Cesar Puello crossed the plate five times last night, tying the Aces franchise record for most runs in a game. On June 5, 2009, the Aces inaugural season, Ed Rogers duplicated the same feat. Rodgers played 190 games with the Aces (13th all-time). In his Aces career he recorded 40 doubles, seven triples, and 10 home runs. Puello became just the fifth Pacific Coast League player since the start of the 2017 season - and the only this year - to score five runs in a game.

Oh Happy May: The Aces finished the month of May 16-14. As a team, Reno hit .264 (268-for-1016) with 47 doubles, 13 triples, 16 home runs and 139 RBI. Catcher Anthony Recker led the way with a .340 average (16-for-47) with 5 home runs and 18 RBI. Reno's pitching staff did the heavy lifting in May, finishing with a 4.47 ERA compared to their 6.27 ERA in April.

Wanna Be an All-Star: Triple-A All-Star voting opened up this week. One week down, three more to go! Anthony Recker is the only Aces player to find themselves in the top-five of voting per position. Last year, Jimmie Sherfy, Christian Walker (MVP), and Ildemaro Vargas were honored as PCL All-Stars in Tacoma, Washington.
