June 1, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Stephen Cardullo and Mike Tauchman hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning Thursday night, to propel the Isotopes (29-26) to a 5-4 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies (32-23) at Isotopes Park. The win was the first for Albuquerque this season when trailing after seven innings.
The Isotopes entered the bottom of the eighth down 4-2 before Cardullo hit a two-run blast to even the score. Tauchman followed his teammate with a solo shot to left, putting Albuquerque ahead for good.
Cardullo finished the night 3-for-4 with three RBI and is now batting .350 (28-for-80) in 30 games. Tauchman's home run was his ninth of the year, the third-highest total on the team.
Antonio Senzatela recorded his second straight quality start for the Isotopes, limiting the Grizzlies to one run in 6.0 innings. Senzatela struck out a season-best nine batters while allowing five hits and two walks.
Lefty reliever Keith Hessler picked up his second win after tossing 1.1 scoreless frames. Jerry Vasto struck out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth inning to secure his second save of the 2018 campaign.
Albuquerque finished May with a 19-11 record, tying for the second-most wins in a single-month in team history.
The Isotopes and Grizzlies will be back in action Friday night with right-hander Jeff Hoffman slated to start for Albuquerque. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:35 p.m. ?
