Dragons Infante Named MWL Pitcher of the Week

Dayton, Ohio-Dayton Dragons pitcher Ezequiel Infante has been selected as the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 3-9.

Infante made one start during the week and fired six no-hit innings on August 5th at Fifth Third Field against the Great Lakes Loons. Infante faced the minimum 18 batters over his six innings and allowed just one base runner, who reached on a third strike wild pitch. Infante struck out seven batters in the game. The Dragons won the game 4-0 but Infante was not involved in the decision.

Infante, a 20-year-old native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has pitched in 10 games with the Dragons, posting a record of 1-0 with a 1.69 earned run average. He has walked two batters and struck out 29 in 26.2 innings.

The Dragons begin a four-game series at Fifth Third Field tonight against the West Michigan Whitecaps at 7:00 p.m. Dayton holds a one-game lead on the South Bend Silver Hawks in the battle for the playoff wildcard slot in the Eastern Division with 26 games to play.
