Chiefs Lose Second Straight, Falling 4-2 Tuesday

Cubs All-Star Ted Lilly to rehab Wednesday at 7:00 pm

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs fell for the second straight night at home, losing 4-2 against the Burlington Bees at AARP Field Tuesday night. The Chiefs had only five hits on the night in comparison to four total errors. Peoria is now 25-19 in the second half and 63-50 overall.

Burlington took an early lead in the first. With one out, Adrian Ortiz doubled and advanced to third on a ground out by David Wood. Nick Francis singled to center to plate Ortiz for the first run of the inning. With Jason Taylor batting, Francis stole second and reached third on a wild pitch by starter Justin Bristow. Taylor was issued a walk and with Shawn Griffin batting, a second wild pitch by Bristow sent Francis home to give the Bees a 2-0 lead.

The Bees tallied another run in the third. With two down, Wood singled and scored on a double by Francis to make it a 3-0 ball game. Burlington added another run in the fourth. Griffin led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a deep single by Jose Bonilla. Yeldrys Molina reached on a fielder's choice with Griffin out at home and Bonilla advancing to second. Patrick Norris grounded into a force out to score Bonilla and give Burlington a 4-0 advantage.

The Chiefs got one run back in the sixth against starter Ivor Hodgson. With one out, Ryan Flaherty walked and Rebel Ridling followed with a walk of his own to advance Flaherty to second. Kyler Burke grounded into a force out to plate Flaherty and make the score 4-1.

Peoria added another run in the eighth against Bees reliever James Thompson. With two down, Ridling singled and advanced to second on a walk issued to Burke. D.J. LeMahieu singled to plate Ridling and cut into the Bees lead 4-2. With the tying run at first, Jovan Rosa grounded out to second to end the inning.

The Chiefs threatened in the ninth but fell short, leaving two on base. Junior Lake led off the inning with a walk and advanced two outs later on a single by Jackson to left-field. Flaherty flew out to right-field to end the game against closer Blaine Hardy.

Bristow (4-6) threw 3 2/3 innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on six hits. The right-hander walked two while striking out four in the loss. Jeff Beliveau came in on long relief, throwing 5 1/3 shutout innings. The lefty gave up four hits while walking and striking out one.

Casey's General Store Player of the Game - Rebel Ridling (1B) - Ridling was 1-for-1 on the night including three walks and scored one of the Chiefs two runs of the game.

Notes... It was the fifth game in a row at home that Jackson has had a hit leading off the bottom of the first...Burke leads the team with 11 outfield assist...Tuesday was Lake's first three error game and seventh multi-error game...Jackson had his sixth multi-hit game in his first 12 contests...The Chiefs had not lost back to back games since July 20-22 and haven't lost back to back home games since July 4-5...Peoria has allowed a run in the top of the first in three straight games...The Chiefs continue their four-game series against Burlington on Wednesday at 7:00 pm... The Chiefs in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have announced that Cubs left-handed starter Ted Lilly will be rehabbing with the Chiefs Wednesday night at O'Brien Field. Lilly, a 2009 National League All-Star, is scheduled to start for the Chiefs and pitch three-to-four innings...It is another Wacky Wednesday at O'Brien Field when all fans can enjoy free hot dogs and peanuts available through the seventh inning courtesy of Vienna Beef...It is also Jamaican Me Crazy Night with Jamaican music and themed games throughout the game...DAV Night is also rescheduled from a May rainout...The Chiefs will send LH Ted Lilly (0-0, 0.00) to the mound opposed by RH Tim Melville (4-6, 3.84) for Burlington...The game can be heard starting with the pre-game show at 6:45 pm on 96.5 ESPN Radio and www.peoriachiefs.com
