MANCHESTER, NH - Nic Dowd scored an overtime goal to lift the Monarchs past Bridgeport, 3-2 on Friday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

Dowd took a tape-to-tape pass from Zach O'Brien, and beat Sound Tigers' goalie Kevin Poulin 5-hole eight seconds into 3-on-3 overtime for the victory.

Manchester (13-4-1-0) squandered a two-goal lead as Bridgeport (10-6-2-1) scored twice in the third period.

"I liked the way our guys stayed with the program," Head Coach Mike Stothers said. "They didn't get rattled on the bench... After you've had a day off for Thanksgiving, turkey, gravy, extra helpings, you never quite know what you're going to get."

Following a scoreless first period, Vincent LoVerde won a race into the left corner after an O'Neil dump-in. The Monarchs' captain took the puck directly to the net and found a crashing O'Brien who stuffed home his second goal of the season at 1:48.

The Monarchs added to their lead at 3:45 in the third period when Justin Auger tallied his 4th goal of the season. Michael Mersch sent an indirect pass to Auger who streaked down the left wing and beat Poulin.

Colin McDonald's 5th goal of the season brought the Sound Tigers within one at 6:54 into the 3rd period. McDonald banged home a loose puck on the power play after receiving a pass from behind the net by Ryan Pulock.

The Sound Tigers evened the score just 25 seconds after the McDonald goal with a tally from Harry Zolnierczyk. Zolnierczyk found the back of the net after taking a breakaway pass from C.J. Stretch down the right wing, deking J.F. Berube, finishing on the forehand.

The Monarchs play again tomorrow when they travel to Springfield for a 7 p.m. game against the Falcons. Their next home game will be December 6 when Norfolk comes to town for two games.

Notes:

* Tonight's win extended Manchester's point streak to nine straight games beginning on November 8.

* The Monarchs improved to 12-0-0-0 when leading after two periods this season. * Manchester registered 50 shots tonight, their most in a game this season.
